Default Need some guidance on 85.5 w/ updated pump timing belt/rollers kit

Hey guys,

I am due for belts, and would like to do them in the next couple weeks. I have found quite a few kits online, on 944online, rennbay, and other places. I also have been looking at eBay, but I would only buy from a reputable manufacturer.

I have seen these CRP TB107-293K2 kits, from what I understand they are the Contitech kit, just another name? They are relatively affordable off eBay I just want to order the correct kit.

My car is an 85.5 with updated water pump, does that mean I would order the kit that is for the 88+ cars or no?

This is the kit I am looking at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CRP-T...#ht_1195wt_939

The last thing I want to do is have the cover off etc and find the kit won't fit.

If this kit is not what is recommended, ie: people wouldn't order this kit because of the brand or if it is the wrong kit, what is recommended?

Thanks in advance!

* I used the search feature, so don't act like I didn't!

get your kit from Rennbay and tell them what you have. It would be a mix/match kit w/ the late pump and the manual belt tensioner.

I'd stick with Rennbay or 944online. That way you're sure to get the right stuff and not second guess yourself. Yes, a little more money, but this is your Porsche!!

+1 on RL vendors. Trying to save a little money can turn quickly into waiting another 4 days for a cheap part that wasn't included, or was the wrong part.

Or waiting for a new head and gasket. Some people have these kits sitting for years and the belts fail within a few thousand miles of installation. I'd definitely go with an RL vendor, although I know Napa sells the Gates t-belt for $18.
