2.8L vs 2.5L: WOW!!!!!
As you all probably know from seeing my signature here on rennlist. I drive a 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo with quite a few bolt on's.
Super 61 Turbo
LR Dual Port Wastegate w MBC
Power Perfect Piggyback
55# Injectors
3.0 BAR FPR
LR MAF w 951 MAX Chips
LR Hard Pipes (Big Power Adder XD HAHA)
and a 3" Exhaust
I have the boost set at 15lbs
And now, the new member of the family...
1986 Porsche 944 Turbo 2.8L which has the following modifications.
3.0L Crank
Pauter Rods
J&E Pistons
K27/8 Turbocharger
55# Injectors
3" Exhaust
Autothority MAF and a professional dyno tune at 14lbs
Driving my 2.5L I feel it is completely gutless out of boost, once its in boost I really get set back into my seat. Spool time is also a pressing issue. Throttle response is pretty slow while revving.
Now for the 2.8L
I revved it up and WOW! That sucker revved up quick! Driving the car it almost felt like a 944 NA in the lower rpm's, very responsive for a turbocharged 951. Once in boost the car has a more than impressive mid range. Lag is nearly a part of the past with this set up.
I figured based upon the driving experiences, that my 2.5L was the faster of the pair. So why not test it...
How do you guys think this will go?

By the sound of it the 2.8L is quicker, so why do you favour the 2.5L? Are you talking about in a straight line? Same boost for a comparison?

Yes sir it is! I see you also have one! I love the color. I need to get the front header panel painted as it has quite a few stone chips.

I checked it out, I am tempted. I like the old school power the K29 offers but I am really looking for something that has very little lag. Once I fit a larger turbocharger and crank the boost up I will send the car off to Chris White or to Rogue for a tune.

In time videos will appear
I found out today that the 2.8L is a LOT faster than my 2.5L. A friend and I did a few runs and the 2.8L pulled hard.
Friday Im going to the drag strip so there will be videos from a stop. And maybe a few friendly sprints against a GTR, Viper, C5 Z06, C6 LS3, RS6, TT LS1, and a few other peppy cars.
