Missing Fuel Injector Hat, In Engine?
Hey guys,
I removed my 1986 944 Turbo intake manifold today. All of the fuel injector hats came out badly cracked and crumbling apart. I only have three though, I can't find the forth, and I'm worried that it may have fallen down in to the intake in a few pieces, but I am not 100% sure.
What do you guys think? How bad could this be? Any ideas for cleaning debris like this? I thought maybe I could take my air compressor and try to 'blow' out intake on the head.
Would a small bit of plastic like this just get blown out the exhaust, assuming a valve doesnt try to close on it?
I have some rags wadded down in there to make sure nothing else falls in there, which is what I always do. I just wasn't expecting fuel injector to go down there
Anyway, I'm glad I took the time to do this. I've got patched wires and vacuum lines all over the place, and I think it was a matter of time before these injectors give me issues.

PlayerO,
The injector "seats" in the intake manifold.
The intake manifold is connected to the head----to the intake valve.
The hat has to pass by the intake valve to get into the cylinder-----I doubt if this will happen. The intake valve will not open far enough for the hat to pass.
The only way to make sure is to pull the intake and then get a flashlight to probe the intake valve.
OR, just let it bounce around and maybe it will destroy it self due to the intake valve pounding up and down.
