My 944 which has been with me for 13 years ate its motor.
Right now it is in the shop getting an engine transplant.
At no. small. expense.
On the upside, the refurbished shortblock from 944 online is a work of art, as is the newly machined head.
So this little episode, coupled with last year's repaint and interior update leaves me with one expensive, soon to be sweet-running 944. I would post pics of the engine work but right now that seems to be above my skill level.

I am thinking a spun rod bearing. Will know when I recover the block from the shop. Right now, the new motor is being built up...but there are a few cats and dogs type things still on the old block.
I already told them that I want the old block. Will pull some parts as mementos etc. But smart money is a spun bearing. The engine did not budge after the car died.
We shall see. Was planning to either replace or rebuild the motor at some point....just got forced into it now. Once I got over the initial shock...I took it to a really good shop and am doing it right.

ouch...sorry to hear that the engine blew up. On the plus side though, I know that when I rebuilt the engine in my car, it really woke the car up...hopefully everything will go just as well with your rebuild
