I thought the USA spec S2 cab was over 3k lbs. as well. Hard for me to imagine where that extra 300 lbs. comes from. Different bellhousing and flywheel, different trans, extra headlight motor on the 968 but not much else. Maybe there is 300 lbs. between a euro spec S2 cab and a USA spec 968 cab though.

To me, 968 "***" looks a little too heavy. I too prefer the style of the 944 in this case.
From Wikipedia
S2 Cab production = 5600, with 2400 coming to the US
968Cab production = 4400,, with 2250 coming to the US
So, in the US, I'd say they are equally scarce, but ALL 944S2 came with a MANUAL while most 968 cabs came with a TIP (or automatic)..
do NOT buy any of these cars as "investments".. The only TRUE investment 968s are the 4 factory race cars- the rest will struggle to keep up with inflation and will COST more than inflation to maintain.

Thanks "theBlau" as it's also good to know that the S2 is slightly lighter than the 968. Both cars have different things going for them and I wish I could drive them to see which one I really want, unfortunately that's not an option.
