Tool Time 944 - Stant or UView Cooling Testers
Ok I need to add a few tools. I thought I owned almost everything already.
But both with the 944, and now with the Jeep off road project here I see I NEED a cooling system tester of some sort here for some tests.
Have any of you guys used either of these?
One is the Stant 30 lb cooling tester and the other is the UView Tester and AirLock Purge thingy.
The Stant one is here for $65
The UView is here for $108
The Stant looks like a normal pressurized tester. While the UView does some testing, I think anyway, it does it with vacuum. The UView also vacuums out the coolant and then "sucks" it back in or so it says. I am not sure I want this on the Porsche - but I thought the expereience of the RennListers would know for sure.
Anybody using these? Better or worse? Or does it suck ?
Thanks a lot.

Does anybody feel that the vacuum filling of the U View is a good thing as it relates to the 944? I dont have the manual here for the specific filling on our 944's.

I own both of these, I rarely use the U-view though. Vaccuum isn't efficient for testing coolant leaks in my exp. We use our pressure tester almost daily, the U-view is good for hard to fill vehicles with radiators that are mounted low and hard to bleed. Also on big systems once you run out of coolant in you have to shut it off and change over from the empty to full container, kinda a pita.
