Good point. Worth testing the sensor before ordering a new one. Either way, remove the potentiometer.

so pretty much all its doing is hurting my gas milage?

So what you are saying is that you fixed the problem by removing the potentiometer and everything works fine now? I fail to see how the block temp sensor can keep the car from revving.

I soldered the broken tab back on to the potentiometer. im not sure why it affected the performance the way it did. these engine management systems are beyond me.
