Default Porsche Parade 2011

Anybody here in Savannah? I have my white 944 S2 here for the concours and rally. Would enjoy meeting some rennlisters if possible.

Would have been there, if my parts were ready..

However alas they are not ready...

Have fun for all of us that cannot be there!

I am headed up in the morning from Florida. I should be at the concours around 9:30 or 10:00. I am not showing my 944 but just popping up with the PCA for the day. I will look for ya!!

Thanks guys, it should be a really great week. Thus far, it's been a lot of cleaning for the concours tomorrow morning. Here's a shot of the convention hall where the preparation is going on.

Wish I was there. Several of my non-944 friends are headed there from the Maverick Region, but my car isn't running yet, and I haven't quite convinced my wife that she would have fun while spending an entire week with a bunch of "car people". Maybe next year...

Have fun!

I saw your car today KBull at the Concours. I didn't see you around the car but the ride looked great! I know you spent a lot of time prepping and it showed. I grabbed some pics and will post them as soon as I figure how!!

If you don't mind, can you let us know what the scores for your car were? I use the same judging sheets when I judge at other shows and am curious to see how intense the judges were this year compared to past Parades. BTW, could it have been any freaking hotter in Savannah? Next year PCA should hold the Parade on the face of the sun just to be consistent.

KrisPKreme: Thanks! I appreciate it. I probably had about 40 hours into prep time and my dad, who came along to help me, added another 16 or so. I wish I could've been by the car more, but the judges wanted us off to the side as much as possible. I was sitting in a folding chair behind the orange 911 across from my car. These links should help show you how to post pictures.

Yeah, sure. I don't have my score sheets with me tonight, but I will get them tomorrow and post as soon as I can. I do remember my raw score was 232 of 235 though. The judges took off points in terms of tenths. About half of those deductions came from the engine alone. I spent a ton of time on it, but you just can never get everything. I placed third in the class. The boxster that drove from CA got a heap of bonus points, so it won, and a frame-off restored, trailered 356 took second. Not half bad!
Again, I'll post detailed scores tomorrow evening sometime.

Haha! No kidding about the weather. Next year will be in Salt Lake City, so that'll be very different. Don't plan on making that trip, however!

Dude, 3rd in class is an awesome feat! There was some really good competition there. Congrats!!

Here a few pics. Obviously Kbull's S2. There is that Spyder that was awesome. The last pic is a sea of Porsche's waiting to be judged. There was another field next door that was the corral for the non-concours. There were just as many P-cars over there. Awesome showing of Germany's finest!!

Are points deducted for non-stock wheels, or do they just like to see factory Porsche wheels on the car?

The car looks great, BTW. Congratulations!!

Kris, thanks a lot! I sure appreciate it. Speaking of placement, here are my scores, as promised:
Exterior: 69.7/70
Interior: 69.4/70
Storage compartment and wheels: 32.4/33
Engine: 60.5/62
Great pics, Kris! You actually caught me in the second one.. I'm in the upper right corner facing away from the car. That 550 Spyder in your third pic was really nice!

Matt, if I was in the "Preservation" group, they would deduct points for non-factory wheels, even if they were still made by Porsche. I was in the "Performance" group, "Street modified" class, so factory originality isn't taken into account. I was judged strictly on cleanliness and presentation. I love the wheels though. They're one of my favorite parts of the car.

Those scores look like they were right on the money based on what I saw of your S2. Great work! I am sending the pics to your email. BTW, where did you get the Rennlist decal?

Thanks again guys. I was quite pleased with the judges scoring this year. One thing I really liked that they did was they took the time to interview the owner of each car before judging and get to know its story a little bit. I felt I had a special one because this is my first car, I looked nationwide for about a year for it, and (God willing) I never want to sell it. It's already a great car, and I'm just trying to do something little to improve it more each year.
The rennlist decal actually was placed there by the previous owner. I assume he ordered it on here somewhere, long ago. He replaced this car with a beautiful 996 and is active in that forum. AndyK is his name on here I believe.
