Default Gaz Coil-over shocks Contact

Anyone know how to get in touch with the guy on this forum who is a distributor of gaz shocks? Want to buy a rear coil over setup for the rear of a 944 N/A dedicated for track use/DE events. Going to eliminate the torsion bars for ease of setup in future. Paragon has a Koni E30 series at $730 and Ground Control looks to have just about the same thing for $649. I understand the Gaz coil overs are available at a better price point but is there any feedback or good info on these vs Koni?? Thanks John

What year is your 944? I have a torsion bar delete rear carrier already set up for coil-overs available. It will fit up to early 85 models. I also have coil-over kits for the rear shocks.

Dan Shea is the guy you're looking for. Let us know how it goes.

Mine is an 87 944 N/A. It has the Koni coil over fronts (89 Turbo M030 Type) springs are factory white/yellow paint mark, I think it translates into about 185/190 lbs. Looking to delete torsion bars and add a 350 lb rear coil over setup.

I left PM for Dan Shea and have heard nothing. Anyone know how to reach him??

Thanks John

You will find 350R way too soft with a torsion bar delete, think 500-600 for a road car and 800+ for a dedicated track car. I am running 250F/550R on my TB deleted daily driver.

Speak to Ground Control about spring rate recommendations, I've forgotten the name of the guy I spoke to there but he was very knowledgeable about 944's

I just PM'd him the other day. We've been talking about the Gaz setup as compared to the comparable Koni's. He's been driving with them for a while now and says that they are hands down better than the more expensive Koni's.

You mind sending me his contact info by PM. I left him a PM several days ago and have not heard anything.

Thanks, just going by Jason at Paragon suggestion on approximately 150 more in the rear than the front and currently the front has the M030 adjustable ride height single adjustable Konis with the yellow & white paint mark on spring (assuming something like 185-200lb on front)

Did not want to get the car way out of balance.... When I upgrade the front springs then I will also upgrade the rear springs ....But then again I do not really know only taking his advice.

After nearly two weeks of trying to reach Dan Shea he responds to my PM with a PM, no email, no phone contact. This is why guys like Jason at Paragon and Jay at ground control are worth the extra $$ in my opinion, all I was trying to do was get informed about what was available and its like pulling teeth. Paragon and Ground Control are very helpful as well as the readers of this forum.

Sorry about that, I was on vacation for a week. I agree Jason is much better at his job, but it is his job, this isn't a job for me. I made a connection with the guys at GAZ and wanted to extend the hookup to my friends here on the Rennlist. I'm sorry that I was unable to help you out.

Dan I thought you were a distributor for the products and I have been trying to get educated and then spend my money. I would just like to talk with whom I give my money and thought you would send me your email or direct way to talk with you. Did not mean to throw you under the bus but felt like I wanted to get the best product and information for my money and some people on the forum told me to look you up. Well I did not realize I would have to chase you down to spend $500... I get it if your not really making any money and doing this as a service but I thought otherwise. So if your in business let me know, if not point me in the right direction and I will bug someone else at Gaz to get my info because its hard for me to spend $500 on a lick and a promise.

I ran my 83 944, slightly lighter weight than stock (A/C delete, no A/C under dash, torsion bar delete) with 400lb springs up front (coil-overs) and 600lb springs in the rear. While great on the track, it removed the understeer, it was *very* stiff on the street. It was so stiff that I broke the adjuster for the alternator a couple of times and it practically rattled my teeth out of my head. If you live in an area with bumpy roads (like here in New England) I wouldn't go that stiff. If this is going to be a dedicated track car then go for it.

If someone wants to do a torsion bar delete setup on an early 944 or 924 let me know (shameless plug to get rid of some parts).
