About $3,000 with all the up and downs.

And I would like to post a official protest against odurandina's latest avatar pic, yes it's cool, but I look forward to the latest girl pic instead he normally has up.

or am i flirting with the 944 'third rail' just by asking?
Wow, 18k for 60k miles. It is an auto however so no dice. 11 years newer than my Turbo S.
However I remember being on a PCA drive 5-6 years ago and one guy saw my Turbo S and lamented "I never should have sold my turbo." I asked him what he drove and pointed to a 996.

One man's opinion, but I will stick with my stock 144,750 mile Turbo S. I still have less in it than 18k despite picking up in 1997 and putting 55k on it.

Car $1400
Ball joint kit $130
Water pump, belts and misc seals: $180
Power steering pump bracket: $40
Oil Change $45
Spray paint and sanding supplies for wheels $60
Clutch Hose $60
Fuel Hose $65
Misc odds and ends $50

Total: $2030 and counting

What is disheartening is I have owned it for a year and a half and only driven it about 3 weeks.
She is my daily driver now tho..

Purchased (in April 2008): $3900
Maintenance (shop): $3000+ (now it needs a new head gasket, dang it!)
General Repairs (myself): $800+ (just finished my latest repairs including reattaching the passenger door moulding and replacing the rear bumper pads)

As a college student this freakin car (plus tuition and cost of living) is putting me in the poor house, but dang do I love that car.

This thread is just not right. Like telling your wife how much you spent on you mistress.

Btw - More than I spent on buying the cars in the first place - nuff said!

>$40K including racing a few times.

This is more than any other Porsche I've owned including 911s, 930, 996 and Cayenne. Having said this, it's a deal compared to other Porsche factory race cars with period race history.

$25K to play, a few hundred here and there to bring it back to perfect so I'm close to $27K total (about $5.40 for every mile I've driven her)

I counted it up once when I was getting the turbo appraised/agreed value insurance, will never do that again.

944 turbo - owned 11 years - $65k (purchase price + upgrades + maintenance items)
996 C4 - owned 4 years - $25k (purchase price + maintenance items)

Of course I race the 944, so it's needed a lot of upgrades over the years. For the 996, it's only need a battery, 2 sets of tires, oil changes, brakes, an ABS sensor and a radiator fan.

I've put about 60k miles on the 944, so that's over a buck a mile. I've put about 30k miles on the 996, so that's about 83 cents a mile.

You've seen them - draw your own conclusions.

I thought we were keeping air cooled cars out of this thread...

That car has has the least money (but most time) in it. I've also driven it the fewest miles, so $/mile might be higher.
