Was their an air gap adjustment that needed to be made for this clutch, or was it just a slap it on and go?

My issue is that my A/C runs great for 5 minutes no issue, then it starts to make noise at the compressor and supposedly the clutch starts to slip. Is there a way that I could remedy that without having to evac the system and get it running again.

Replacing the clutch won't require you to evac the system. samsonevickis JUST posted that he did this a few hour ago.

No air gap adjustment, just slap and go.

One thing I did do, which just makes things easier is I used an impact wrench on the 13mm nut on the clutch.

But there are two very thin spacers under the pulley, make sure see and remove both and clean and then reinstall.

Seriously it only took me maybe 10min once it was on my workbench.

I did it twice, because it seemed too quick. haha, but it took less than 5min to do it again.

Could my clutch be bad even though it doesn't make noise when not in use? Also how much does the clutch run?

"The clutch" is really a couple of things: it's the pulley, a bearing so it can spin freely when not engaged, and the electromagnet lockup (clutch).

If it squeaks when it's off, but works fine when it is running, you have a bad clutch bearing. If it's quiet when it's off, but squeaks when it's engaged (locked up) it's likely because the electromagnetic part is slipping and needs to be replaced.

Not sure on the price, but there's some background info for you at least.

Looks like thats the one I need. Its $152.00 for the clutch. How hard is it to replace this? Should I even bother with it or should I try and replace the compressor and call it a day.

Personally, if it's the original compressor, I'd bite the bullet if it is only a hundred or so more than just the clutch. If you fix the clutch and the compressor craps out in the next couple of years, you will essentially have paid for a new clutch twice.

Clutch replacement DIY is located in the "Chassis" WSM last couple of pages.
It also shows the tools to use and spacing.

944turbomjk: That is the idler bearing that goes inside the A/C clutch pulley. That is not the A/C clutch assembly.
