Instrument cluster refresh
Odometer Works again! Yea!! Now i can record and track mileage again.
p.s. It is so easy to roll the Odometer back in these cars that I would never trust a "Low Mileage 944" ...
I did the Aluminium Foil install, and also cleaned all the old bulbs (which were very dirty);
The Results are great!
The Dimmest setting now is as bright as the Brightest setting before I started; and the Brightest setting now is awesome! I was going replace the bulbs but after seeing the results I will not bother too.
EDIT*** OOOOooooH! this was my 500th Post! Guess i should finally become a member...

caution; some of you may jump out of your seats and say... "no way dude...."
but, I assure, your eyes are not deceiving you.... it's real.
the new, od 944/968/928 GT instrument cluster/group buy is coming...
amazing isn't it that Porsche was so lazy (even with the 928GTS)...
I mean, they're effing PORSCHE for Christ's sakes...
and in a 20 year span, they built about, 270,000 front-engine/2-door/rear-hatch cars...
and, some of them are still on the roads and they go fast.
so, I'm fairly confident there'll be some interest out there for the od/'9-function'/cluster...
people will gather and celebrate their triumphant excitement...
momentum will build...
yes my brothers and sisters, the madness will end, and your lives will be changed.

I replaced all the cluster lights with superbrightleds.com LED's which were pretty cheap.
> WLED-xHP5: 194 LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base - WLED-WHP5: Cool White (The large bulbs) -- I think I bought 4, only needing the 3 for the general lighting spots -- about $6 each.
> T3.25S-TW: 168/194(T3-1/4) Twist Lock Wedge Base Socket - T3.25S-TW: T3.25 Socket (the small bulbs) -- I don't remember how many I bought but they were only 1$US each.
The results were good. All gauges and warning lights are nice and bright. The bulbs snap right into the old sockets. The only downside is that they are polarity sensitive and won't work if you get them in backwards, so you have to do a little testing to get them right. You can get any color you want -- I stuck with cool white.
The dimmer wheel works, but is not as effective as which the incandescent lights because of the reduced current draw by the LEDs. You'd need to replace the resistor to get it to work better with LEDs -- Didn't care to get into that detail -- just happy to get gauges I can see at night.
Overall, completely happy with the LED improvement. And the LEDs should last for a long time.

I came up with an idea and tried it; (LED string tucked behind the lower glass coping) 5 years ago....
and never looked back.
it's fantastic in the way that it's plainly banal.
just right brightness. you don't give it another thought. I forgot about it so long ago, and nobody ever notices.
just looks normal with a cool bluish hue.
I don't have a pic handy... but....
*I had posted my mod on the 928 forums many years ago, and a guy did a nice job replicating it....
then kindly posted his. which right down to the 180 mph speedo, is identical to mine.
