So.. what is it that makes the magnacore wires so great? Do they last longer? Do they prevent cross arcing between wires? DO they make the Kool Aide taste better? Do they make the snozberries taste like snozberries?

In the interest of fairness, I will disclose I have had the ever living crap shocked out of me while diagnosing rough running problems on more than one 944 with magnacore wires, and each time the wires were less than one year old..
When replaced with STOCK wires, no more issues.
YMMV.
Each car I work on, that has the magnacore wires equipped, I advise the owner to change out to stock wires. But that is just my advice.

For nearly all parts for my Porsches, I go to the specialty places (Paragon, Pelican, Lindsey, etc).
However, for things like plug wires, caps and rotors - I have found that Rockauto is very reasonably priced. The options are usually pretty good too.
As Joka says; YMMV.

I just purchased the "Fyrebraid" set from Zim's.
I haven't had good experience with my magnecore.
edit - my magnecore were from pelican with the ****ty magnecore boots, not the beau connectors. LR uses the beau connectors, so my experience does not represent their product.

You can plug wires from a few places. I have had 3 944's and all of them had magnacore wires with 0 issues. I know on my 924S after about 7 years they one wire was starting to fail on me. They are cheap though.

If your car is stock go with the 7mm Bosche oe Silicone wire set ,you will never look back & have years of service.Same for the dist cap & rotor Bosche oe,spark plugs Borshe WR7DC+.I agree that the lowest price wires ect ect migth be attractive but you may find out that it's not always the best route to take.If you want to put more life in your ignition system an MSD blaster coil is a nice option. Or do like I did on my ex 944 install an Accel electronic super coil LOL talk about four happy spark-plugs,only draw back is that you got to frabricate your own (coil to dist wire which is 8mm).
