Default torque spec needed

I had to take my power steering pump off the other day. Now that it is back on, it is leaking badly from around the banjo bolt. I used new crush washers. It is tight. Tight enough that I am afraid of tightening it more because I think I will snap it off. I am at the point that I am thinking of welding the fitting on once and for all.

Does anybody know the proper torque spec for this bolt?

Those are copper washers, right? It helps to anneal them before use, heat with a propane torch until thoroughly dull red and let cool. Makes them nice and soft.

Of course it broke off today when I went to tighten it. Luckily I was able to get it out. Sometime next week when I can source a new banjo bolt and crush washers, I plan on JB welding or actually welding the fitting on to the pump. I am at the end of my rope with this. At this point I plan on buying the parts and a for sale sign.

Oh c'mon, this isn't rocket science. Are you sure it's leaking at the banjo, not the hose connection to it?

Get the for sale sign for sure. If this small issue beats you a 944 is not in your future

For Sale sign got. This week I changed the timing belt, balance belt, all the pulleys and rollers, water pump, oil seals, and lower balance shaft cover. Everything is a fight working on this car. I am just done.

LOL, unless your clutch blows up suddenly, you've taken care of everything likely to need attention. Enjoy it for a while! How bad does the PS leak?

Remember, old cars do require maintenance, especially if they were neglected by PO's. It's still cheaper than car payments on a new car, and the end result is much more fun once properly sorted.

It was leaking pretty bad. I'll see what happens when I put a new banjo bolt and crush washers in.

I think that is the best advice. It is not my only car, and I am just burnt out and beat up after taking a week off work, and spending the whole time working on the car just to be beaten by one bolt in the end. I need another week off to recover from my week off. I will pick up a couple of banjo bolts and crush washers this week and try to put them in at some point. If the next one breaks or leaks, the JB weld comes out. Otherwise I think the best thing will be to not even look at the car until I can move my shoulder, wrist, and neck, and I feel the desire to drive it again.

Maybe I will put the cover on it. I used to do that with my computer when I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment and did not want to see another computer when I came home from work. Now I just don't go into that room.

On the up side, Fiberwerx said my new front bumper and valance shipped last week. It should be delivered to the paint shop sometime early this week. If it is done there, maybe I will put it on next weekend. That should make me want to drive the car (usually that is all I want to do), or at least to sit and stare at it (usually followed by a trip to Hooters where I sit on the patio and stare between the car and the waitresses).
