How old are the shocks and tires?
Brake pads/lines?
Belts/hoses/wp et al as mentioned.
Fuel lines? Vacumn lines?
Rod bearings sound like good preventative advice!
Everything electrical work like it should?
PS leaks?
Motor mounts? rubber bushings? aged out coolant tank?

It's 25 years old.. address the mundane and maintenance first and you might feel like its got more HP once its returned to proper condition Then tackle the "mods".

physically replacing the bearings and the cost is not the problem(50-75 bucks?). its getting to them... you need to remove the intake manifold to get to some upper bolts on the crossover pipe. remove crossover pipe, along with crossmember to access oil pan. remove oil pan to gain access to rod bearings. of course its a lot more detailed than this but you get the idea...

might also be a good time to put in a windage tray/baffle in the pan to prevent oil starvation... its the oil sloshing to one side that usually starves the #2 rod of lubrication. ive heard vent steam kits are also good insurance. this just amounts to creating more (or less?)vacuum in an area of the top end that would otherwise not see much oil passage.

not to scare you, its relativey rare but it can happen. ive got pics around here somewhere of my 3 in. diameter hole in my block... ymmv
