Default Ballast Resistor for MSD Blaster 2?

so, I've been thinking my coil is going bad for a while, but it just occurred to me that there's an MSD Blaster 2 coil on my Alfa Romeo GTV6, which is down pending an engine rebuild... so I figured I'd snag it from the Alfa and try it on my 951. But, what I don't know is whether or not I need a ballast resistor for the 951 and if so, what value? I don't have one on the Alfa, but it has a standalone that does not require one...

anyone know?

I had one of these in my 924S when it was having issues I thought the coil was bad. I never used a resistor and I drove the car like that for 6 years and never had an issue. I believe some people recommend a resistor as it stops this from drawing too much current to hurt the DME, but I never had one issue.

MSD Blaster 2 coils do not require a balast resistor.

MSD factory says if the resistance between the positive and negative terminals on the original stock coil is 1.5 ohms, or less, you do not need the ballast resistor. If its more, you do. Mine checked out at 1.7 ohms, so I'm using the resistor that came with the coil.

I went through this last year. No it does not need a resistor. Bolt on and away you go.

Using a blaster 2 on my car, been on for a few years, works fine with no resistor. If your afraid of running the DME to hard you can run it though.
