Default Different lug nuts?

Has any one tried different lug nuts on the Phone Dial 944 wheels? My wife's car is a VW Passat and it had black plastic covers over steel lug nuts, has any one tried to fit some thing like this? I tried re painting the stock aluminum lug nuts black but they are chipping/flacking again plus they show signs where they are starting to round the edges.
I think this would give us the look of the stock black aluminum, the strength of steel, with out showing the age of the original lug nuts and just pop off the plastic covers for racing.

If You've got the Passat in the driveway AND the 944 in the driveway... You Tell Us!!!

Do they fit?

The Porsche lugs are plenty strong, and have the perfect taper for Porsche wheels... furthermore, they're LIGHT! I'm not totally sure that it really matters how light they are, but I've always found it amusing how far they go when I accidentally kick one that's sitting on the floor

The racers use steel lugnuts as the aluminum is not durable enough for repeated changes. They are also cheaper at around $1/ea. M14x1.5 is the size. You can find them on ebay and other places... the ones I get are zinc coated for corrosion resistance.
