slate blue: And I bought the car for the motor because I race an 89 in 944 Cup with a 2.7L, so the head isn't for sale. And $950 isn't that unreasonable. I've seen them go for $1K. I know how hard 2.7's are to find
Look when you sell parts you are entitled to ask what you want for them, the buyer will ultimately decide if it is fair or not. The 944 2.7 head doesn't flow that much better anyway in stock form, around 5% but allows different configerations, every 4V 944 or 968 head will beat it.

In terms of price the last head I bought was $350 and the last one one Ebay sold for $415 at auction, never got a bid at $500. Another sold on the UK Ebay for $450. There is heads on Ebay that have been on for months, one for years, I think that says something. You have to remember they don't come with any warranty and one head someone past the comment it might have been sandblasted, hopefully the seats, valves and springs were protected. Anyway I think prices have fallen and these engines/heads are now quite old.

dillon410021: Will do

pkt1213: let me see what shape the a/c strut it is in. I just cut the belt and unscrewed it from the mounts. I didn't look closely at it.

kev951: heat shields, I'm just at the point of pulling the motor. I'll take a look and see what condition they are in .

Well, the $1K price was for a known good head from a known seller. So provenance does count. And while prices have dropped considerable, they will never be cheaper than the 2.5 heads, since there is just a lot less of them. These days if the head is junk, if the valves are good it may be worth it, as the valves are hard to find, and go for $180 a pop.

Chris, does the car have the 4 aluminum heat shields on the firewall in fair condition? no extra paint or burns or oil coaked on them? I have my motor out, and my aluming firewall shields are shot.
Kev951: sorry, but the heat shields aren't in good shape.

Just PM me and/or send me some pics when you look at the strut.

Are you serious?

That's one of the first things I take out. I must have at least three of them (if they haven't been thrown away).

We're talking about the key in the ignition "gong", correct?

Scott, can you let me know if you still have them? I have a history of leaving my fog lights on in the morning when I walk into work.

No problem. I am certain I have one. It came out of the "new" car a couple of months ago.

To the OP (or anyone else)... I'm looking for a sunroof console switch for my '86. Mine only operates in the "down" function. Lemme know!

TIA!
