i pushed each gauge through from the back side. i removed each connector as the gauge unit came through. they just press in and stick with a ribbed rubber ring.

Wow great stuff here and major motivational inspiration for me

Looks like you have things undercontrol here!

As for your bearing issue, I had the EXACT SAME problem D: however it was too late for me to fix it, the symptoms caught me by surprise and that was the end of my rear wheel... the inner bearing's outter race 'welded' itself in as the inner race welded onto the shaft.

I had nightterrors for days!

the mirror glass on the passenger side mirror came loose.. i ended up removing it from the mirror housing, cleaning it and using a two part epoxy to reattach it.

mirror cleaned and ready to go (note the small amount of glue that was used from the factory on the upper and lower edge):

Two questons:

1. How did you get that light to work? I put a new bulb in mine and it still doesn't work so I moved on to other things and never went back to it.

2. Is your coolant level low. I know it's hard to see when the tant discolors.

Nice Work! I too have been rebuilding my 944 over the last 2 years; so i share your Joy and Pain!

Question: In post #15 there is a picture of your belts... I think your Power Steering Belt is 'inside-out'?!

forgot to answer this question. i cleaned the bulb socket, replaced the bulb, and removed and cleaned the hood switch and the connector to the hood switch. figured if i did everything all at once i would have no issues with it working..providing the wiring were intact.

been awhile since i've updated. had so many things going on. the last thing i did a few nights ago was clay bar the hood, right fender, header panel and headlights and buff and wax them. the paint is shot but this small amount of effort really brought back a shine! i also did the right quarter panel as well. i'll get pics of that when i get to the garage tonight before work.

the color is very nice. the paint underneath the respray is original and is still in beautiful condition. stone grey was my first color choice followed by garnet red. but then i would've had to get a late build 85..which would be fine as well.

here is the picture i promised last night. i forgot to post it up:

OK, how did you get the headlights/sidelights/foglights and tail lights to work?
If I remember correctly, you were fiddling a while back with the light switch and cable connections.
Mine quit working when I mindlessly replaced the front parking/turn signal bulbs with the wrong bulbs.
Any tips will be appreciated.

I'm also deeply involved in bringing my 1984 back to life and must congratulate you on your work.
Mine is the same color as yours.
Kismet.

i was screwing around under the dash and pulled on the wires coming into the fuse panel. the lights then began working. the issue i believe was corrosion buildup at the connections on the fuse panel. the only permanent fix would be to de-pin the entire panel one wire at a time and clean each connection. for now the lights work fine and have been holding up well.
