Does anyone know if the manual steering rack is a different height than the PS rack? What I mean is this: Is the top of the splined shaft on top of the manual rack shorter/lower/closer to the cross member than the PS rack's? I am trying to work out some geometry for a turbo oil drain through that area and I don't have a manual rack to look at. I am thinking that since the manual rack's intermediate shaft is longer, then the splined shaft sticking up out of the rack is lower, which would make for significantly more room between the motor mount and the intermediate shaft. Am I right?

Yes. The manual rack requires an intermediate shaft that's about 1" longer because the splined shaft coming out of the rack is lower.

I don't know if it would give you "significantly more room", however.

Guess I need to get my hands on one and see how it fits. I hate to buy one not knowing if it makes a significant difference. I already spent the time de-powering my existing rack hoping I could just use it. Anyone got a manual rackfor sale with the intermediate shaft?

Yes, I am selling my 944 manual rack, with intermediate shaft. I was just about to clean it and put new boots on it.
