Seats Worth the Price?
Hey guys I was looking at a pair of used seats that are in good condition no tears or rips and the seller is asking for $300 bucks. My question is it worth it to spend $300 bucks on used seats when I can spend $300 and get an upholstery kit with new vinyl?
Just wanted your wisdom...thanks!

what kind of seats? if you're getting better seats(like sports, heated 8 way, etc...) than its not a bad move. i recently bought used seats but they had been recently recovered... paid 500 bucks and they were sports.

i love script seats and burgundy ones are pretty hard to find it seems! id say go for it! I have had problems with the script cloth seperating from the vinyl relatively quickly after buying them though.... ymmv

Burgandy seats are more difficult to find, in general. So, if you need them and these are in good shape, ti totally makes sense. The price is very good. Its getting more and more difficult to find used Porsche seats that aren't torn or cracked.
I recently saw some 996/Boxster generation seats that were very beat up with holes , etc. I guess even these are getting old.
The uphostery kits are nice, IF you are able to fit them properly. But, the problem is that the old foam cushions take on a custom shape from many years of asses sitting on them. So the new covers don't fit right and end up being loose. Now, if you were to replace cushions as well, then, that's a good option....but more money.

Yeah, "worth it", in that you won't find a better price. "Worth it" in the grand scheme of things depends on what your money is worth to you and how badly you want the seats.... but $300 for good condition script seats in any color is a fair price, and considering they're a rare color, you should go for it.
It never hurts to haggle though.
I once bought a set of early 944 seats which had been reupholstered in that "high-quality German vinyl". I hated them. That vinyl is awesome, but not for seats! IMHO a seat needs hard upholstery, not something stretchy and soft. Those seats were very squishy and uncomfortable.
IMHO script seats are the best available because the leather ones eventually dry out and tear, or wear out and look bad. The Porsche vinyl is nearly indestructible, and the cloth is very durable and breathes.
