will that kit work even though it states that it fits the 85.5? mine is an early 85.

I doubt it, but I just figured I'd mention it...

I had a similar problem, high idle, no vacuum leaks (after I fixed them), played with the idle adjustment, all to no avail.

I found the culprit accidentally. The cruise control cable was adjusted too tight and not letting the pedal return completely.

Like I said, I doubt it, and that was an '86 so I don't even know if it's applicable, but I thought I'd throw it out...

Not sure, mine's an '86. You should probably call to see if there is an early '85 kit.

There were extra o-rings in the kit after I was done rebuilding mine, so the kit must cover some variations...
