There is one section of flex pipe there due to cracking of the manifold otherwise. The non turbo cars use a similar manifold for 1-4 and 2-3 pipes, but without the flex section. They tend to crack the 1-4 pipe so the Porsche added flex section on the turbo probably due to even more severe heating issues of thermal expansion mismatch between the manifold and the head.

the wasegate is not mounted to the turbo, but is located under the near the starter motor. It is visible in a number of photo's attached.

ok wow I see the wastegate now, that was the one picture I didn't look at religously.
the reason I ask about the flex section is that if I were to custom fabricate n exhaust or manifold would it still be necissary or no?

Ernie, you have my full permission and gratitude for the help and pictures etc.

THANKS TO ALL WHO ARE HELPING!

I'm eyeing the crossover
Those engines are from (Auto Sport in florida most were custom built by A. Broadfoot) here are some more from AS & other sources, some are Turbo /NA/ S2/968 & even a 928 from a Rennlister here plus a rare prestine Callaway turbo own by a Pelican member.Enjoy.
