front spring rate to get for a street car?
I was going to order a set of
koni front shocks with paragon coil over set up. I was told 200 is good for street . been doing alot fo reading on here and many say go 250.300 etc
so now I cant deside what to go with.
its a 87 951. stock rear end. will prob do just shocks down the road and very down the road rear coilovers.
its a street car.

really it's all up to you. if it's daily driving, would prob go no more than 200. if it's just weekender, maybe 250.. 300 is mighty stiff. if yer not gonna autox/track the car, no need to get something that stiff

FWIW, I had 300 fronts and solid bushings, Koni coil over set full stiff on my 951 stock rear with Koni sport shocks full stiff... loved it so much I transfered it to my 944 when I installed the Bilsteins on my 951.. only change I made was to soften the stiffness to half.
I have purchased a set of 225s, but have not yet installed them as I am happy with the 300s... neutral handling, even on the 944...

jss,
I installed the kit I belive you are looking at on my 944s2. I went with the 200lb springs due primarily to the fact that I have stock torsion bars in the rear. I have found this to be an excellent setup for street driving and occasional track use. I think with the Koni adjustable struts and stock springs the car was over dampened and under sprung. The 200lb springs have brought this into balance and the car is much more comfortable on the street.
Good Luck

I am confused...the spring weights everyone mentioned are exceptionally low numbers compared to something I have written down for my car "Spring rates: 1800 front, 1500 rear"
Where did my numbers come from? Those numbers are supposed to be the weight balance/bias of the car and the spring rates were chosen off those numbers, right? My car has pretty much only been tracked and is set up for it as well, but gets driven on the street (and no, it is not a very smooth ride).

Haha, I really don't know. I would assume it's standard American measurements, I know it was written down by someone who wouldn't have used other measurements, and I'm sure all the components are all American made or sourced. I have to look through my binder of paperwork again. On a sheet of paper with some other info on it, it just says "Spring rates - front 1800 rear 1500". And I don't know why, but for some reason those numbers make sense to me in regards to some aspect of a suspension setups, but I don't know what, maybe dampening or something...
