Man that is absoultey stunning. No way I'd pay 29k for it, though

I'm sure it's probably worth that much to someone, though. From looks alone, that appears to be as close to showroom condition as you're going to get.

mid 20s would not be out of line if you had the resources.

maybe im a pessimist, but i would never pay top dollar for any variant... i like to get a good deal, do the work right myself while replacing worn stock components with tasteful-to-me upgrades and still be at half the asking price of this car... i don't care how well maintained a car is, when its 25+ years old, something is going to come up that requires some money, even after paying the "premium"... just my .02

by "had the resources" i meant very wealthy. if i had 20k for a car i would not spend it on a 944. if i made 250k a year and the perfect turbo s fell in my lap i may think about it...

Especially low mile cars. That thing would blow it's wad if it were just put into service. I'd remove the K&N sticker if I were representing it as completely original. I know it's no bigggie, but K&N is more hype than performance and any conscientious owner will know this, or the shop doing the work should know it. Red plug wires, again no biggie, but it raises questions of other liberties that may have been taken in it's upkeep.

Agreed. If I had stupid money laying around and wanted a water pumper Porsche, a 968 coupe, AND a 928 GTS would be in the collection. 951s are for beating on in my opinion unless it's a cup car.

see when you start talking high 20's im starting to look at other cars... the 944 turbo is a great car but in my opinion part of its amazingness is that it ouperforms cars that are twice and three times the price... if you take away the savings i'll start to compare it to other models for the same price... like a 996... but thats just me... and i do understand that if you have the extra income you'd be more inclined to pick up a perfect turbo, id probably be tempted myself... but i'd hope that my better judgement would prevail because i know i wouldn't have time for the 944 because i'd have to spend time on my e-type, bugatti type 57, ferarri testarossa, 250gto, aston martin db5, etc...

I'm luke-warm on 996s too. At ~ 30K your in happy hunting grounds for sure. 993 coupe?
I bet a type 57 could turn respectable lap times, but who's hot shoeing those around the track? No doubt a most significant car in automotive history.

To each his own, but wouldn't it be sad if, 20 years or so down the road, there are ZERO all original 944/951's to be found? When was the last time you saw an all original 356 somewhere? Now, how many people were gathered around it and marveling at "how they did things back then"? The vast majority of 951 have been beaten on, or modified. The remaining few that are all original are a treasure to be protected and preserved when possible.

(oh, only 31,000 all original miles here)

Likewise, I would spring for an OE set of spark plug wires if I were the seller instead of those tatty red ones.

I'm afraid that it will be quicker than 20 years. The cast is already set for these cars. Dwindling parts supply, more and more NLA parts from Porsche, and the incumbant use of these cars as stepping stones to other models is making the nice original examples a rare find indeed. Only time will seperate the sheep from the goats and who's to know if they will be viewed as a novelty. I certainly hope they take their place in their proud Porsche heritage.
Maintenance IS restoration, it's important to use and maintain these cars properly for future generations to enjoy. Preserving a car like this is demanding more owner-responsibility then ever before.

mid to high teens.

I had a hard time getting over 12 for my 53k mile 89 951. if it is an 89 it is not an S. it is an 89 with all the 88 S stuff on it standard.

Also, every S was silver rose, not stone gray (steingrau) which is what the one pictured seems to be.

Stone Gray > Silver Rose! IMHO. but we can set up brackets to see which color is best.
