Ah I see. That makes a lot of sense. Good to know that at least the few in your country are well cared for! There's the other explanation for the astronomical prices on 952's you see over there! But yeah just send me a pm sometime if you have a particular hard time finding a part. Maybe I can help. Good talkin.

I am looking at an S2 with 46K miles/records/excellent condition (according to seller)...all stock etc etc.

Assuming this car is all that it is advertised to be, what do you guys think is a fair price? I am a 911 owner and out of the loop on 944 pricing. He wants close to 16. Seems very high...

That's insanely high. For 16K you should be able to buy a very good condition Turbo S with similar mileage. I know because I have seen it happen- look at my previous post in this thread about the 15K car on eBay.

I would have thought most N/A models would sell for less than Turbos.

16k is quite steep for an S2. divil makes a good point about the pricing on a turbo s. An S2 with low mileage such as that one should be between 12 and 15k i would estimate, 15k is on the high side and should be for an absolutely mint/brand new condition example. 16k is asking a little much given the market right now. If you are looking on spending that much on a 944 i would definitely suggest a Turbo S. Better performance and better resale value, the best of both worlds. A Turbo S should be safer from depreciation as well. Once you start putting the miles on an S2, its value will drop.

paid 2500 for my NA 4 years ago. needed normal maintenance and it had a halfway decent respray

paid 6K for my '87 turbo 3 years ago and it was up to date on maintenance, was bone stock and cosmetically in very good shape.

paid 6K for the 968 1.5 years ago but thats needed a little more work. probably has 18k in it at this point. but its the best driving car ive ever owned, and has prettly low miles at 82k

Thats really good for a clean 951. I'm trying to find a clean one for around that price right now...it's proving to be pretty difficult...You should post a few pics of your 968! My goal is to own one eventually!

In the exact same boat you are. bought an 87 NA for 4500. Car is immaculate at 111000 miles, however, I still want the 951. My funds are limited and accumulating more while maintaining the NA is a pipe dream.

this is a hard cycle to get out of. at some point you cross an imaginary line where its not worth it to sell the NA to finance a turbo because you've put so much money into maintenance

That is a really clean 968. Those ducts should be sweet when you get them installed. What are those door panels I see there?

they are panels from a turbo that i covered in vinyl. i just upgraded the rear speakers and am using them by themselves... i actually saved around 15lbs taking out the armrest, speaker enclosures, and component speakers...

then i bought a set of 964RS door pulls from the dealership and put it about where it would go on a 964 RS style door panel.

my car's a mix of of 911 RS parts, RS style fabrications on my end, and some very non RS stuff like a radio, cold AC, and power sunroof, windows, doors, and rear hatch. I also love my sport seats so im not giving those up for racing shells like an RS, even though i would save 30+ lbs for each seat!

even with keep all these things and adding 17" wheels, ive saved around 130 lbs.

That does seem high. I picked up my 89 S2, with 65K on the clock in excellent condition for $8,000 a couple of years ago. I thought that was fair price but not a tremendous bargain. It did need new tires, but that was only $500. Everything else was in great shape on it and it even came with options 220 and 474 - Limited slip and Koni shocks.

This my 93-968 a low mileage car paid a tad over $16k here in Canada where Porsche are pretty expensive (all maintenance done & ready to go).The CS steering I did buy & install (DIY).So like mention 16K for is way to steep for an S2 ,there is also this red one for sale up here very well taken care off, low mileage it's an 92 also with maintenance up to date asking price is $15k.Those price migth seem steep for you guys south of the border but remember those car hardly see rain or snow and are store 5 months a year & are very well taken care off since they are rare birds up here.So peoples tend to really baby them.

Those both look excellent. I don't think I've seen a cleaner engine bay in a 968. That's unfortunate about the pricing up north of the border but at least the ones that are available are well looked after. So I was poking around on craigslist and found this down in Florida

http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/cto/2315198125.html

What do we think? Priced right? I think it is priced more fairly than the one on ebay for nearly $28k all stock. But for that money you can have a very clean 968 or, for a tad more, a late 70's early 80's 911 in need of some tlc. Depends on preference I suppose, but any higher in price and the options begin to really open up on what else you can buy.
