Default Tray/cover under front air dam/bumper

When I got my car, this cover wasn't fitted. I plan on fitting one but am wondering what purpose it serves ? Does it help with aero or to direct air into engine bay for cooling ? is it just to stop water splashing up ? any info would be great

Sure it stops road debris from bouncing into your engine bay...

But also it helps create negative air pressure under your car/engine which aids in both cooling and aerodynamics.

Most people I know (including me) do not have one... i would like to get or build one though...

are you talking the tray under the engine or the plastic bit that goes from the valence to the bottom of the radiator?

the plastic bit helps duct air to the radiator that would otherwise just blow by. there is a noticeable difference in cooling with and without it.

Haha indeed.

The section that runs from the valence to the bottom of the radiator increases cooling. The integration of this feature is different from early to late cars.

yes I am talking about the one under the radiator. It's already on my to do list. I didn't know there is another bit for under engine ? thats the one for catching oil leaks right ? now I am curious as to what this other one does lol
