Color query: linen vs. mushroom

After a few years in storage, I'm addressing getting the N/A on the road. I've always been under the impression that my interior is linen with black. Something weird is happening to the lower dash, to the lower linen portion, the top of the panel is losing its color, darkening and spreading. So I'm ordering some spray finish from Colorfast, in linen(their chip looks right), to refinish it. Thing is, I just read the post from a guy with a track car interior for sale, which he identifies as mushroom and black, and it sure looks like my interior spot on. Sounds like his is newer, mine is an '86. Anyone know how close these colors are, or are they the same just named different in different years?

you have mushroom. no linen until 1989.
Linen is a LOT lighter. I have one of each interior...

I've never heard of mushroom colored interior in all my 7 years........ I thought linen was the only color in that "light tan" spectrum.

I think I might know which post you are talking about ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I forget where I read the term "Mushroom," but I know it isn't linen. I had actually read the official color is the French word for Mushroom, but I can't recall what it is. Linen is MUCH lighter, almost grey (next to tan, Linen looks grey - next to grey, Linen looks tan). I've got a Turbo S with dark blue/linen. THe interiors I've seen ID'd as "tan" had a more orange look to them, so that's why I assumed that mine is Mushroom
I haven't found decoders for interiors, but the code listed on the build sticker is LQ.

My interior code, like 67King, is LQ.
As far as FRPorscheman's post, as far as aftermarket and accessories, he is certainly right. Items in linen are common, but I've never seen anything in mushroom. Hopefully I can tint the Colorfast vinyl paint/dye to get close to what I need on the dash.
I was planning on new seat covers, in linen. Now I know this won't match, but since the only part of the seats that are shot are the perferated inserts, and the rest of the interior is a black/mushroom combo, I suppose just getting a trim shop to install perf'd black inserts will look OK.

Well, its a damn strange color. My carpet, which is a bit lighter than the upholstery, could pass for a light grey tint, but the leather/vinyl itself has a definite beige cast, maybe with enough hint of greenish to make the mushroom name make sense. Years ago I had sheepskin covers in what Rocky Mountain Sheepskin called mushroom on these seats and they blended perfect, and they had no hint of grey. Still, as mentioned before, its cast seems to depend on what the color is next to.

I don't know. Whatever it is, it is definately more beige than grey. I've seen a few grey interior 944's, rare, but most decidedly grey compared to this.
Also, here's a shot of my linen seat on my 951S. Interior code on it is NG:
