Default FS '88 924S autocross/DE car

SOLD!

I'm moving into more modern Porsches and have decided to sell the car that got me into Porsche four years ago. This 1988 924S is a really nice example of what many consider the best track car of the N/A 924S/944/968 series. I purchased it with just over 100,000 miles and immediately began improving interior, exterior and performance. A year into ownership I found the SCCA and ran the car in stock classes at regional autocross. Seeking more performance, I then made several changes that moved it into Street Prepared. Although most would consider it not fully prepared for that class, I would say it's got a good start.

The body is mostly straight with a single stage poly paint job three years ago. There's a few minor dents from being pushed around in the garage on skates (too many cars). I rolled the rear fender wheels last year so some paint cracking there. But it really looks good and I still get many compliments at the events. The dash is cracked (of course) but there's a cap installed. It has racing seats, harness and harness bar but no cage. There's an aftermarket racing steering wheel installed. The interior carpet and side panels are nearly flawless. All electronics (except the clock) work and the AC is upgraded to R134.

The 2.5L engine is very strong with a 3 bar fuel pressure regulator, stock air-box with K&N filter, Lindsey spark plug wires and fuel lines, 3" cat delete exhaust with Magnaflow muffler, performance chipped DME. One year old timing and balance belts.

Drive train is outstanding with a 951 clutch and bell housing, replaced thrust bearings, replaced motor and transmission mounts and black 15" phone dial wheels mounted with BF Goodrich g-Force R1s (12-15 runs on them). Brakes are good with plenty of pad and rotor. Braided steel brake lines. The original transmission shifts well and is that highly desired 924S version with the short 5th gear.

The suspension on this car is good. Sport adjustable Koni shocks front and back. 200 lb. lowering springs on the front struts and a strut bar. The rear is lowered but has the original torsen bar. It has the M030 sway bars front and back. Fresh sway bar and control arm bushings (rubber).

Overall this 924S is fast, handles well and is a blast to drive. If someone were to finish the preparation for Street Prepared - it could be competitive at a national level (with the right driver). The price is $3500 and the car is located in Lebanon TN. Send me a PM here and I'll respond promptly.

Great looking car. If I didn't have one already I would be on the phone.

It's a pity that our 924S' are so under rated. They really are great cars to start off with and even hold up well on the track in stock form. Hope she goes to another good home!

Default Extra parts available.

FYI - I've got the original seats, seat belts, throttle cam, sway bars and DME chip that could be reinstalled on this car to get it back to stock. The seats are very nice with fresh covers. Although some of those items are listed in this forum - I'll include them with the price of $5500. What I do not have, however, is the cat or street tires. Send me a PM and I'll respond with a list of spare and replaced parts that could go with the car.

Our Chump/LeMons car is a 924S.

It is so forgiving. Makes a great DE car --

Of course ours is not as pretty as the OPs car :-)

In the same run class, its a blast to terrorize the GT3 and TT that are out there.

of course I worry about the fact that my car is worth maybe one of their wheels :-)

Default Time to go... price reduced $4500

Just a few responses to the original $5500 so I'm dropping the price to $4500. Note that I've already sold many of the stock parts listed above so this will be for just the car. No spares.

Wow! Someone's going to get a screamin' deal on what appears to be a well maintained and documented track car! Wish it were me, but timing is just not in the cards now!

GLWS!

Agreed. I need room in the garage and a down payment on a HVAC unit. It's got to go NOW!

Great deal! Wish you were around when I bought mine...

For that price, I'd buy it as a spare. My wife would **** if I picked up yet another P-car project though.
