It seems that there is a clear distinction between "comfort" seats, "sport" seats, and "racing" seats (due to design parameter when designing the seat!) with not much overlap, i.e. it's either a "sport" seat or a "racing" seat. Reading the feedback, "Sport" seats seem to be the best comprise for street - although apparently, by far, the most expensive seats.

Do some rennlister swap seats (like tires) before and after a track or race event?

Thanks Markus, i think im set on the sport option having some experience with comfort seats. I've sat in a "race" seat before that was actually very comfortable, but i think the sport seat is the right compromise between snug and factory appearance.

Markus, when are you coming back to the middle of nowhere? haha

sydneyman2007:

Having had the 944 comfort seats for nearly twenty years, they are definitely more comfortable than the sport seats, but of course the sport seats are firmer and offer more support.

I am also sort on the lookout for a pair of sport seats for my 928 here in Germany, just not happy about the premium they seem to be able to demand (http://goo.gl/zay3U or http://goo.gl/A0Cw6)

The stock (comfort) seats in my 928GTS are quite similar to the 944 stock "comfort" seats I had in my 944, except in having an adjustable lumbar support and a heated seat cushion.

The stock 928 seats are maybe better fitting the Grand Touring concept of the 928 than the sport seats, but still ...

This is all too true. This especially holds true with the speeds and srd's. You can see how to spot a fake in this guide that i posted a while back on here..

So.......I think Markus, that you have summed that up well. Unfortunately changing out seats before a track weekend is just one more thing that I'd like to avoid.....the prep list is long enough already.
For me, the question is.....what's the short-list of "sport seats" that can double as week-end warriors (i.e. have some added support and can accomodate 5/6 point sub belts) ?.......or maybe there are none.

before i bought a pair of stock sport seats my next best bet was the recaro speeds or old srd's. although i have no experience with them, it was my understanding that they are great compromise seats. good luck!
