Mystery 931 Flat Dish wheel
This is an offshoot of a related thread, where a couple of sharp eyes noted that the wheels on my car were atypical. Has anyone else seen a Flat Dish with a valve stem seemingly randomly drilled into the wheel? Most valve stems come through one of the "windows" in the wheels...
The part number, clearly here, is 477.601.026 B. It's a 16x6" wheel from my 1980 924 Turbo with the "S" performance package.

I take back my original post about those wheels as I have seen another set. If I remember correctly Racerbvd had a set on Pelican some time ago. Don't think that he knew what they came off of though.
They do appear to be unusual.
One other thing, I thought manholes had indentations on the back side of where they would become Clubsports if the material wasn't there. Am I wrong about this? Or could this have only been certain manholes that showed those indentations?

Is it me or do the top two pictures not match the next two? The top two show a large dia hole with a smaller dia hole inside. The second set show only the large dia hole from behind the wheel. What gives?

angle of the picture. the face almost floats on the rim...kind of odd. I took the pictures within the same five minutes on my living room rug.
You gotta understand, man, that rug really ties the room together.

So what we have here is a crazy set of wheels. Any Porsche stamp on them?

Very peculiar! I love a good mystery though. Hmm. I have a set of 6x16s, I'll have to see if I can check the part numbers on them...wonder if there was a supercession somewhere along the way...

If you click this link:

You can see an example of 931 flat dish with the exact same part number as pettybirds...but the valve stem hole is not in the same location. Here's a link to a photo from the top side, show the location of the valve stem hole:

I wonder if the really early examples were simply machined differently...they were forged after all, not cast...

They must have changed the design at some point. Backside is totally different as per Pettybird's pic above.
There is a set on eBay now. The picture caught my eye purely because of the valve stem. The openings appear to be narrower as well.

Seem like something the 924board would like.
