Default Voltmeter & Oil Pressure pegged high problem - Help!

SOLVED! See #3. I've got a '91 S2 which pegs out the voltmeter and oil pressure on the high side when either the ignition is turned to position 2 or the engine is started. Voltage at the battery is 12v at rest, 14.4 when running. I changed out the voltmeter/pressure gauges with another with no change in problem. Has anyone had a similar experience and a solution? Search was no help.

Thanks! John

Problem solved! I took both of the voltmeters out of the clusters and wired them direct to the battery and they both pegged out! Hmmmm.... I took a third voltmeter direct to battery and ta da . . it read normal at 12v. Put this in cluster and plugged it in and it works fine! Just Murphy's law showing again. I have no idea how the oil gauge is also affected.

Thanks! John
