Default 951 Values Rising?

After searching the internet up and down for 951's I have noticed the prices are higher, $7,500-$12,000. Is the market getting better?

1) seasonal
2) NADA guide prices HAVE been rising
3) seasonal
4) Seller optimism
5) GOOD examples have been getting harder to find, which in turn drives up the value of a good solid car, which in turn also raises the value of less than solid cars...

6) yes, the pricing has been climbing, making it more difficult to get true values much any more... but they are still out there...

as an owner, in the process of a full rehab, I keep my eye on what is happening sales value wise so as to make solid decisions in my purchasing of parts for my car... and yes, pricing has been climbing over the last 12 months or so..

I would recommend anyone on the fence, who finds a decent car, for decent money ****** it up and make it perfect for what you want out of it, because you might not find a similar car for the money in a years time! But as I have said many times before.. I could be wrong!

difficult to graph as there are too few statistical points, and sales price is often different than asking price...

However the annual assessment in Excelence should be coming soon, and I am sure they will indicate much the same as my previous post...

Point well taken. Where is that thread in which people tell about their car, when they purchased it, and for how much? That would be GREAT in a graph.

Fixed it...

FWIW I paid $3200, have had it for just over 2 years, drove 15,000 miles or so before the overhaul started 7 months ago... project is temporarily on hold pending resolution of other issues, but will resume soon, and will be one for the books...

I have looked at, and worked on SEVERAL north of 10K 951s recently, and have really seen them all over the place both in price, and quality.. seen some killer deals had on VERY nice cars, and high dollar pricing on craptastic cars...

Buyers, beware, be informed, and if at all possible, get reliable eyes on the car BEFORE committing in any way shape or form... it can save huge $$ down the road...

Yea I paid 7K for what now would be a 3.5-4.5k car, but that was in '08.

Then I bought a complete non runner for, well next to nothing, so those things can balance out.

According to Excellence magazine, 951's are depreciating. and '86 951 in 2009 was worth around $12,500 and the most recent issue the same car was around $10,500.

The Value on the 86 944 Turbo went down 1k, it was 7,750 now its 6,750. I guess thats because it became a antique vehicle this year?

Ya know, I really don't care what the market is doing. If it ever comes time for me to feel the need to pass on to someone else my car, then I'll set a price I think it's worth, and wait. If it sells, great, if not, I have an awesome car still.

The only thing I will say is that 951's hold their value. I bough my Turbo S in 1997 for 12.5k with 90k miles on it. Now it was 141k on it and stil worth 8-9k at least. That is not bad for all the years of ownership.

However I have no plans to sell it so its value is rather irrelevant.

A very awesome car at that. If it ever came time for me to sell my 1988 black 951 I would sell it part by part. With a salvage title I would be lucky to get $4,000 even though its modified quite a bit, has $25,000+ in receipts, and has LSD.

I was thinkng the same thing, only I will up the bid increments. $4050. I personally think all 944's will see a nice bump over the next 5 to 10 years.

Haha, you guys are killing me. Honestly I don't know what I'm going to do with this car when I get a different 951. I'd like a guards red or silver 951.
