Interesting to note that in general OEM car seats are more expensive than the car engine in that car. http://goo.gl/s6vjC

Certainly seem true for Porsche sports seats!

Certainly seem true for Porsches, in particular regarding original Porsche sports seats!

Thanks. Certainly something different, 914 style instruments in a 944.

Pretty famous story of the SVO Mustang debacle-- Ford called Recaro for seats and were told they were $800. They greenlighted the project, and called back for the seats. They were $800...each.

$275 for the conversion itself
$1,550 for sport seat leather covers
$480 to install new covers

welcome to Porsche.

L.A. Porsche Dismantlers had 993 sports seats in great condition, for $8 k. my second choice in seats were the Sparco Milanos in leather. when the chance came to get my Sparcos at a better price (shortly after the panic of '08), i jumped. just couldn't justify $8 K when i could have better seats for less $$$.

umm wow. i feel like the conversion is fair... and to recover would be a sunk cost if your original seats need it anyways... although i bet you could find them elsewhere cheaper but not as high quality... aaaand i would learn to do it myself to save that last 500 bucks. its the shipping to and from that kills it for me...

im going to look into whats involved with the conversion, have someone local perform that part, get a 2nd mortgage and buy some covers(just kidding...) and then recover in my own time... i think thats the only economical solution...

I thought that's what about they cost new!

Hard to believe that such rather simple seats could cost so much.
