Default Towing with a tow dolly

Question: I have a 90 S2 Cab 5 speed and wanted to know if I could use the tow dolly I pull behind my RV to tow it. I currently pull my wife's PT cruiser 5 speed behind the rv but was wondering If the tranny in the Porsche would be ok towing it on a two wheel dolly?

If you search you'll find several threads about this....one that I started asking the same question.

I got mixed responses and all variety of answers....enough negatives to the point that I decided against it.

I used to pull my 944 with my dolly, but I pulled it with the front wheels on the ground.

Tow it with the front wheels on the road and you will be fine. Use a tie down strap to secure the wheel and don't rely on the key stop.

couldn't you take both half shafts out and tow on the back wheels? it doesn't take too long to take them off or put them on, and i'd be much less worried about the rear bumper hitting the ground than the front air dam (with the back being higher off the ground).

You shouldn't be constantly taking off/on the same axle bolts. They tend to stretch and don't re-torque properly. That said, given the cars rear transaxle, i would think 2 things... for short trips/emergencies (say 50 miles or less) you'd likely be ok to tow with the rear down. For long distance pulls, I'd put the rear wheels on the dolly and watchout for items others have already posted.
