Default Sunroof not working...

Hit the button and nothing happens.

Fuses are good.

Next thing to check?

I want to replace this stuff with the manual latches. Anyone have a set for sale and a DIY on it?

check out clarks-garage.com. Awesome write up there. Also, check

Still in the process of dealing with my own non-working sunroof. Let us know what helps and what works.

There are a series of micro switches that control the roof movement. Most are located on the drive system in the rear hatch, but the one that gave me trouble is in the roof above the rearview mirror. Push on it and see if the motor runs. Also,if the motor runs, the plastic gears might be stripped. As stated above ,read Clark's Garage. Good luck.

I just finished ripping put the electric parts in my car. If you need a piece let me know I will mail it off. Most of the parts I took off seem ok. Except the microswitch on the windshield. That's broken.

There's a microswitch at the front of the sunroof? The only switches I knew of when I replaced my stripped gears were at the back of the car near the motor. Where exactly is this switch, and what purpose does it serve?

We're talking a 944/51, right?

Right in the center of the sunroof, above the rear view mirror is a plastic cap that the middle black arm makes contact with. There's a microswitch behind this cap. The microswitch stops the sunroof in the fully raised position in earlier 944's but on later 944's is a backup to limit switch 3. When this isn't working it will keep the sunroof from working in the open direction.

I'm no genius on this, as I've stated, since my sunroof is still not working, but that little bugger of microswitch is definitely up there between the two sun visors.

PM Spencer (V2_Rocket... or something like that lol) for the manual latches. Last time I asked him, he had a few sets.

The purpose of the limit switch at front is so that the car "knows" when the sunroof is installed in the car. If it is not depressed by the plastic black tab, it inhibits the arms from moving.

Doc, check the relay. Mine wasn't working, all fuses and limit switches were good, and it ended up being the relay.

You don't happen to know the relay # off hand do you?

+1 on relay or the front microswitch...1 of these is your culprit.

It was the front microswitch. Had us chasing our tails for a bit, ended up having everything disassembled before we tested the front microswitch.

So what becomes of the manual SR latches now? IMO hold on to them until your SR fails again...you know it will.

I'm probably still going to install the manual latches. Less weight and complications
