I have considered trying this stuff on Ebay:

It sounds as though it is made from closed cell foam (like the rear spoiler is). My concern is being in Mississippi that sooner or later I will hit something with it (bumpy roads, road kill, deer hunter etc) and foam would be much more forgiving than fiberglass or carbon fiber.

That's foam from Home Depot in the garden section.. think it's like 8 bucks...

If you guys get a splitter and your afraid it's to weak then get some kevlar cloth and glass it on the back side... Kevlar is stronger than CF and a lot of race splitters are made from it.

Wow glad I didn't order it or anything. Maybe I will stop by home depot on the way home.

You guys ever consider searching the archives for My detailed write-up on how to make a FIberglass or Carbon Fiber part using Foam for a shaping.....

The real secret is that You cannot use a typical resin with the foam becuase it eats it.

Best Wishes

The original lip required a special fastener to attach to the spoiler, any idea how to acquire these?

They are pretty simple, you could duplicate them yourself.

They were made of a material similar to that of which the factory rear spoiler is made of.
Of the options offered Id go with the fiberglass. The only real benefit to the CF in this application is a bit of weight. They will both end up destroyed in due time. A Molded Urethane foam would be a better choice for durability.

Techno Duck, how did you come to acquire these items?

I do not believe I could fabricate these fasteners, looking for a source.

What's your secret, please share.

I bought a new old stock one on eBay a few years ago for about $100. Came in the original packaging with all the hardware and the paperwork.

I found another last year at the Hershey PA swap meet that i also picked up for about $100, it was unused but came with no hardware or anything.

You do not need to duplicate the mounting hardware exactly, you can just do something that uses the same general idea of sandwiching under the lip of the front valance.

I have the original rubber lip and would like the original hardware, do you still have a set?

If not I'll find someone to fabricate and post...

Ya I almost fell for it too and then I happened to stumble upon a discussion board post about it and it even had the same exact pictures from the ebay listings lol.

if someone in Virginia Beach,VA had a 944 N/A and wanted to, I would make a few fiberglass splitters to sale... dunno if they would look like advertised but atleast there would be a splitter for an N/A

Make one, post a pic and I'm sure people would buy them if they looked presentable.
