hey iceshark thank you for the help, i'm looking at my receipt from Automotion 193
commercial St., Sunnyvale, CA 94086, it states i got: order date 12/16/1997, Qty ordered 2EA, Qty.shipped status 2, Bin CH51, Part Number HL-70222, Description Hella HB-2 12 Volt Headlight,Ea, Amount 78.36 + 8.95 shipping, total 87.31, based on this what did i get the bad lenses? my car is being stored till next month so i cant read the lenses but i will and get back to you but can this let you know what i got? My light is weak and the light angle from normal to high beam goes super different, shouldnt the spray of light somewhat be the same from low to high beams? Im not referring to the light output. Let me know if i need to give you more info or if my lenses are ****. Thanks for taking time to follow my posting

tecart, OOPS! You have the POS "VisionMinus". <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" /> I know that is Hella's number and I also have an old Automotion Cat. here that confirms. Sorry.

No wonder you are not happy with your lighting. The thing to do is get one of my headlight packages and move forward. Everyone makes mistakes, just don't live with them longer than you have to.

If you go over to Danno's GuruRacing site, click on lighting on the left hand menu, you can browse Rennlist threads and see what it is all about. And if you want to fork over the $349.50, including an extra set of bulbs and insured shipping in the states.

i would like lenses that do not criss cross any of the light pattern at low or high lighting, so in theory i wouldnt mind the stock lenses ability to throw light without seeing criss cross higher light patterns in front of the bumper, i just want to have bright light with none of the lense causing patterns of light on the road (criss cross) so what lense should i get for your kit?

The Hella name is "VisionPlus", but the lens was so bad everyone nicknamed it "VisionMinus." In any event, that is what you have and it is horrible.

I don't know exactly what you mean on this "criss cross" pattern. Explain a bit more. Making an accurate photo of headlights in action is really hard, about impossible without doctoring the picture up. If you are looking at Ben's lighting pictures he posted you should know he had his fog lights on. And didn't have the wiring kit installed. The fogs may be adding the "criss cross" you are talking about as I can see the hash marks in one of his photos. That is the fog beam and the way the camera caught the light.

I'm telling you, it is really hard to take an accurate picture of headlights at night.

Brian, our fellow Rennlister/TV camera guy in DC, is going to try a few shots with his new full package when it gets a little warmer and he can install.

Drop me an email at wraydan@msn.com or call at 952.285.9433 and we can talk about your questions.

I think you probably want to go with the Cibies when I get some additional ones in but if you are in a hurry you can go with some other E-Codes. Drop me an email and let me know when you want to talk and I'm sure we can figure out what to do that makes sense for you.
