Post Tires . . . I know . . .

The RE-71's did not wear or ride as well as I would have liked. They handled great though. It is time to replace them and I am looking for:
*A quieter rider
*Longer wear life
*Decent handling
*Good price/value
Any thoughts or comments?

At $45.00 Tirerack is practically giving away Yokohama AVS Intermediates. Only problem is that you'll have to go with 225/60x15.

Go for the RE-730 gen 2's. Better wear than the Gen 1's, and they got rid of the noise.

I think the RE-730s are still VERY noisy tires. Not as bad as RE-71, but then again nothing short of a 35 inch mud tire is...

I'd recommend yoko AVS sports.

Well, I run Gen 1 RE-730s with no carpet in the back of my car, so there! That is noisy.

I plan to try the Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 next time I buy tires. They are VERY inexpensive, and I hear good things about them. You could use them too if you can find a size you are satisfied with. I think I would try 205/55VR15.

Ooops - Our car came with 16" wheels.
Sorry to leave that out,

Cool! I will assume then that they are the wheels that allow you to run 205/55r16 front and 225/50r16 rear. This means you can run those Kumhos just fine.

I have had the RE730's before and was pleased with them, they are noisy, but supposedly better in Gen 2 form. I just put the Kuhmo 712's on my new 17's and they are great tires, especially considering the price. Seem to be pretty sticky as the scrub in too. I had them in the rain over the wkend and was pleased also. Would reccommend either.
