I live in Salt Lake City and have the misfortune of only 91 octane at the pump. Would it be to my benefit to purchase an octane booster? If so, which one is "best"?

No it wouldnt. However, you would be much better off buying some Toluene or Xylene from your local hardware store and adding a coupel gallons to your tank. This is much better than those 'octane boosters' while only bump your octane up about .1 points, and cost a foot.
This has been covered in a LOT of posts. Do a search for 'rocket fuel'

Try the local paint store.
Hardware stores don't move enough volume to get a good price.
Expect over $5 a gallon. If you get down to $3.50 you have hit a home run and expect the Rennlist 951 tanker truck to be showing up at your door. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
Can I have another 40,000 gallons, Sir?
If you plan on a quarter million gallons, it will likely be about a buck.
