Post US 959

A friend of mine was just in SoCal and he sent me this photo and a few others......

Apparently this guy has 14 of them at his shop. Imported them all from Japan. Sadly, they are all sold. Not that I could ever hope to afford one. <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />

I've seen one here on the streets of Seattle. It was likely Gates or Paul Allen driving it (or one of their assistants, mistresses, etc.) It blew by me on an onramp to I5 at some ungodly speed. I almost had to pull over, it was surreal.

George...I might be able to spring for the pile'o'tires. On a related note, a very interesting backdrop for over $1MM in supercars.

A couple weeks ago I drove to FL for vacation. I saw a red 959 on I75 in Atlanta. Of course I pointed it out to my wife. She was (passively) like "yeah, that looks like a fast one." Will they ever understand?

George, great to see these. Thanks for sharing!

I can't tell from the pics, but Japan spec cars are RHD. I doubt any 959s were RHD, but would you still want one if it was?

If you lived in Japan wouldn't you still be willing to buy a 959 with LHD? I would.

There are certainly a number of folks here in The States who have purchased RHD Nissan Skyline GTRs.

RHD, LHD... who would care? For a car like that?

We're not sleepwalker-drivers who need an appliance that's just like every other car.

RHD would be a challenge for about a week, then it would feel natural as anything.

And I would LOVE a Skyline...

Having said "I would love a Skyline" I went to ebay to see if there were any... I found:

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1872291398" target="_blank">Skyline on ebay</a>

Looks like hell waiting to happen, to me. Who on earth would pay that much for a car with NO assurance you could even register it or drive it? Look at the list of things you "might" have to change...

Nein Danke, as the Porsche owners say.
