Post Fellow Canadians.... Where do you get your parts

I am having a hard time finding parts for my car and am wondering where you guys go. Both new and used. I am hoping there is some hidden little wrecking yard full of them somewhere I have found a lot of places in the states, but it is a pain to try to get the parts IE. shipping, duty, taxes, exchange....
Any tips are greatly recieved
Thanks

Elite Auto in Ontario. I've bought a few things from him. Mostly new, but it seems he may have a lead in used stuff.

Hey buddy. I pick up 99% of my stuff from Weissass, I mean Weissach.

When you factor in USD->CDN and Shipping and Brokerage, and the fact that Weissach always gets the parts the next business day, AND it's walking distance from my house, it works out best for me.

Anything BIG and expensive, like a bumper or control arms, I go used or rebuilt from somwehere else.

What are you looking for?

BTW, any pics of your car? I don't think I've ever seen a forest green n/a.

Thanks, do they have a website?

Rich
I am actually looking for a parts car as there are quite a few things I need. But for starters, I want (don't NEED per say as they are fixable ) fenders and hood. And I need, seats, steering wheel (probably just going to go with a momo or something), Window seal (the one on the outside of the door at the bottom of the window), latches and hinges for sunroof and wind deflector, hatch seal, fuel rail (one of the bolt holes is cracked), pretty much goes on and on so I need new, used, big and small
I do have a couple pics... just can't find them on my computer. I posted them here a while ago. I will see if I can find the link

Issat green? Looks black to me.. wow.

Anyways, I want to buy the 968CS wheel for my car, so if you want my 4spoke non-airbag wheel, maybe I'll sell it to ya (make me an offer). (New MOMO's are $300+)

It's in great condition except for some frayed thread behind the horn pad.

It seems like there are no local sources for salvage body panels around here. I've tried, I'm also looking for complete front end replcement. So is Lance, so are you, so are many people...

You'd have to ship em from the states I'm afraid.

I haven't dealt with them, but Malahat Auto Wrecking list three 944's and a 924 in their current inventory. They are on Vancouver Island. You could try contacting them.

For new parts, I use Paragon Products in Texas and 944 Online in Florida. If you can allow two weeks for delivery, have them ship US post office; low freight, no duty, PST and GST is added COD and brokerage fees are only $5. Both have worked well for me. For rush stuff, Weissach is the way to go; they get me parts in from Atlanta in one to two days.

Where do you and your 944 reside? Haven't seen you around.

Rich, yup... it is green. Not a very good pic, so you can't really tell but....
Hmmmm... wouldn't happen to have a pic of the wheel would you?
There is a guy that is in the buy and sell every once in a while over in Richmond too... can't seem to find his # now. Sounded like he had a few cars there. If I find his # again I will let you know.

Waterguy
Will give them a try, thanks. Oh.. I think there is a wrecker in abbotsford that gets them in sometimes too. Will find the name again. I am at work.. so no #'s here
Hmmm.. guess I will have to do some price hunting for a few things, but thanks for the input.

I am in Langley, work in South Surrey(A customs broker at the truck Xing).

Where abouts are you guys?

A customs broker.... And here I was telling you about ordering parts from the States, and the outrageous brokerage fees. Never mind.

I live and work in Burnaby. Get out to east Surrey (Port Kells) quite a bit, but not to Langley too much.

Try here .I was able to find a place in Calgary. I talked to him today, has some stuff, not a whole lot. He said there is basically nothing between Calgary and Vancouver for salvage yards.

Here's some info off a post on the ucr pca site. I often use Paragon or ebay, myself.

"Anyone who thinks they can buy a used 944 for $6000 and not have any work to do is in for a surprise. Any car this old and has been restored like ours is worth at least $10k because of all of the upgrades and repairs. If this work were done at a regular garage you could easily triple the cost. Mark Motors in Ottawa (local Porsche dealer), Whaletail in Kitchener, Vertex in Florida, Ian's Europarts in Florida, Troutman in California, Canadian Bearing, rebuild kits from Blaszak Precision Motorsports and Volkswagen were the main suppliers. More than a few parts can be found in the Volkswagen and Audi parts list at considerably less money. Audi 5000s's share quite a few parts. A lot of sourcing was done through the Internet and Rennlist. Markus also has a selection of 86NA and 87S parts, which were also used.

Blaszak Precision has a website and pictures of some of the restoration work are shown there. I hope this has been informative. A complete pictorial of the repairs is available on CD for $20 if anyone is interested. Call Markus, who just completed a torque tube on his 85. He loves to chat on: email. http://www.geocities.com/Blaszak*precision

What color seats? I got a set of tan '86 seats, a deno steering wheel and hub, and the fuel rail that I can sell you. I probably have the latches and hinges somewhere also. Send me a private message.
