Post Konis fit?

I was browsing 944 racings page when i saw that the konis dont fit cars with the sealed sachs dampers. i have a 1983 944, wich has sachs dampers, atleast on the rear (maybe front to, cant remember, and dont have the car here), and i wonder if these could be the sealed sachs or maybe some others. I dont know if they where there originally, but i assume they have been changed. Did porsche deliver in 83 with the option of sachs instead of boge?

thanx

The 83-85.1 and 85.5-86 944 used rebuildable front strut - that is, they use inserts and are not sealed. The rears are standard shocks - not rebuildable, but replaceable as a unit. For your application in Koni Sport, use 8641-1038S front inserts and 26-1206S rear shocks.

The documentia you refer to is dated, and no longer applies. Koni has developed an insert for the sealed struts that required owners cut and drill the core to fit the new unit. This application is to replace the NLA Koni sealed struts for late model 944's and 968's.

Good Luck!
