Why Hasn't This Car Sold? - Thoughts on a 968 Cab Tip
I've seen this car for sale for a bit now. Seems like a nice car at a reasonable price...any idea why it hasn't sold?

people in the market for 968s are not gunning for the cars that have soft tops and automatic transmissions... they are looking to buy the car from the perspective of performance and upgrading the cars. the prices go so low, you can just as easily call them perfectly-running, "ragtops-in-tatters," parts cars..... not even ideal for V8 swaps, but could work as a nice, "wifey" cars --one more reason these cars were built in the first place -- (serving an entry-level niche market within the brand... ie, daddy buys little girl nice car for her freshman year at USC, husband buys wifey 968 soft-top tiptronic she can drive a P-car too, etc).....
prices for the few, remaining, hard-top, manual 968s are up sharply in the past couple of years after bottoming in early 2009.

no, not an ideal car for a V8 swap — even if it was a manual....
if you build such a car to have that much brute force, if anything you'll desire to add six point harness, partial roll cage, etc.

Can't say my drive to work rivals the infamous 405, but I'm truly lucky if I better 45 mph.
So this car would work for me in much the same manner.

How much does a new soft top cost for one of these? I'm guessing way past $3k installed. You know it will need one sooner or later. That surpasses a clutch job or dozens of other mechanical repairs.
He'd be better off just saying it's an A/T, Tiptronic isn't a selling point.
