Post Thermo Switch for cooling fans on 951

I read through the procedure to replace the thermo switch on the 944's in the factory manual and it involves quite a bit, but have read some say that you should be able to just wiggle it loose from under the car and put in a new one.

Who has done this and can it really be done without removing lots of stuff or draining coolant as the manual instructs?

my fans stay on when i turn of the car.. for as long as it is off even all night.. I ordered a new switch from pelican for $16. not bad.. Just hope that does it

any help.. tips would be great! thanks!

The book is a little misleading, its not that hard. The size of the sensor is 29mm, you need to take the bottom of the fan off to get to it. It is hard to get a wrench that size to fit into the small area, use a good thread sealer and remenber you are threading into plastic.
