Question Gauge Calibration Question "SKIP"

Hello all,

Simple but i am sure very complicated question! Is there a way to calibrate the 87 944 na gauges on my own. It doesn't seem like it would be an impossible job having looked at the back of the gauge itself. Does any one have any information on this, "Skip maybe"? thanks in advance for your replies.

I'm not sure there's a readily available way to calibrate them, but the factory manuals do have *some* of the static values you *should* see. This is certainly a troubleshooting guide that can lead you in the direction of sensor/sender or gauge problems. What gauge specifically?

Skip Thanks for responding so quickly, It is my temp gauge for one. It is reading always on the third bar. IT starts normal but end up slowely moving to the third bar. Now I know that these motors can be tricky and over heat very fast but there is no way that I am running warm. This is why.

1) New water pump installed a couple of months ago and checked this weekend to ensure flow all is perfict.
2) flushed and bled the system completely this weekend to ensure that the problem was not air. "Six gallens of antifreeze disposed of correctly"
3) Chainged the temp sending unit and the fan sensor with new and double checked the connectivity and the starting temps with a volt meeter. Both seem to be working perfictly.
4)Chainged oil and replaced all filters.
5) I even chainged the O2 sensor with new OEM replacement to make sure I was not running to rich or lean

The only thing that I have not done is check with a temp gauge outside to see exactly what temp it is running at, which is the next step in the process.

I believe the gauge is reading incorrectly there is no other explination. the car runs fantastic and the fans come on at the edge of the third bar on the gauge as they are supposed to? Really odd behavyor going on. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Fans should come on before the 3rd mark... but, are not driven by the gauge itself, so you may be correct in the gauge_being_wrong theory. I can have the numbers tonight, if noone else gets to it first.
