Not the mirror. the mirror seal. That is how far they painted up the side of the car to blend the paint.

well, its all settled. they promise it wont cost any more than $1,950. they will use a brand new qrt panel. yea.. it might have been cheaper to use a used one, if i could find one in the area, but since i couldnt.. and since shipping from oklahoma is $250 alone.. it ends up being the same price for a new one so im just going to let them at it. now all i need to do is figure out a way to make 2 grand
thank you to everyone for all your help. really.
oh just an afterthought, i left my tires @38-36psi after the autocross on the streets, could that in any way have affected my grip on the wet pavement?

Nah, I noticed that pressure doesn't make that much of a difference in the rain. The tread pattern is more important because it moves water away from the tread area. Try running any of those unidirectional gatorback-style tires backwards and see what happens!
I used to race bikes (Tour de France type) and people thought I was crazy racing in the rain on criterium circuits (downtown city-block laps). But they didn't realize that with 125psi in the tires and an oval-shaped contact patch, the ground was actually DRY under the tires. I could corner just as fast in the rain as in the dry, heh, heh...
