Yeah, the low beams will turn off if you flash the highs. You would be blowing up bulbs from overpressure if you burned both filaments very long.
You guys are just asking for trouble and wasting money burning HIDs in a lens designed for a filament. Wait for the Xenarcs or put in Hella 90mm HIDs. At least then you get something that works and is half way legal.
FYI, there is at least one company that is coming up with a device that can identify the kludge HIDs you guys are talking about and bulbs that go too far on the color shifts. Then the cops will set up traps and nail you as a new revenue generating scheme.
One other thing, if you have the combo euro fog/driving light you can put in 100 watt (or maybe even 130 watt if you don't mind 40 hour bulb life) bulbs. If you get your delivered voltage up to 13.9 you will be throwing out about 3600 lumens. That is the same level as HIDs, actually more than some of them.

yeah, they do shut off if you try to flash the highs. I have more than once hit the highs by accident and had no light! This is the price we pay for happiness...........we all know how this goes.

You will suddenly get a lot more light because both filaments are on at once. Now... turning ON the highs will turn off the lows, but I do not believe this is the case when you flash them.

I to have HID installed on my 91 944S2. What I did is installed the driving/fog light combo housings and have the driving light portions wired to act as my high beams. It works good. The only thing I had to do to avoid blinding other drivers with my HID headlights was to build a shield that blocked the light that is emmited from the HID bulb from shinning on the lower half of the headlight lens.

Yeah, you are right Tom. Better not hold that stalk back too long as that is some major heat with both lit. My other cars kill the low beam when you flash.
