Post Boost controller

I have used a Halman Manual boost controller before on other Turbo cars. The question is can it be used safely on a 944? Also what is the Stock psi on the stock turbo. What can it be taken up to before the computer is unable to adjust the A/F ratio to the proper amount. For Example I had a mx-6 turbo that came stock at 7psi and I was able to boost it to 14psi safely, anything above that and I had to deal w/ adding another injector.

alright, well first off i probably won't be of much help, but here it goes. oh and it would help to know what year turbo you have and if you have done any mods.
as far as i know that boost controller should work.
as far as a stock turbo, i believe it is 10psi, if you get aftermarket chips, like autothority you can run up to 15psi and be ok...however there is a big debate, so if i were you i would go to gururacing.net and checkout their chips, you might be able to run up to 18psi with their chips. but either way, you SHOULD NOT turn up the boost on this car without an aftermarket chip...cause the overboost protection on this car, or at least mine, didn't hit until 15 psi, before i got chips and i'm lucky i didn't blow a headgasket from going lean. alrighty...hope this helps, and at least it moved it back up to the top of the list.

The Hallman is commonly used on Eagle Talons.
The Lindsey Boost Enhancer is used on 944's.

I used my Lindsey on the Talon. They ARE interchangeable, although you reverse the direction as the wastegates work off of pressure / vacuum respectively.

Yes, just put it on the right way!

[quote] Also what is the Stock psi on the stock turbo.

About 82% of 14.7 psi or about 12 psi (or close)
Another turbo pro might correct me here...

The KLR/DME will slam the door before this happens if your car is UNMODIFIED. You will feel when it happens, trust me !!!!!!!

Good luck!!!!!

Thanks guys,

I am looking into it for a buddy that has had the 944 for 5 years but for some reason only drove it once a month to keep it alive.

I am interested t hear what chip you recommend for his car. It would be used in conjunction w/ a Manual boost controller, New turbo gauge, a/f guage, and a exhaust temp guage. It is one of the later models.

I am more of a 4x4 truck guy but have messed around w/ turbo cars a bit so any help is great!

I would reccomend the GURU RACING (www.gururacing.net)chips and their boost controller as a package. The Guru chips based on dyno data seems to be the best. Autometer boost and air-fuel gauges.
