In which position is the alarm armed, vertical or horizontal?
My key for the ignition does not work the alarm. CAn it be removed and re-keyed?

My owners manaul says that when the alarm is armed, it disables the ignition... sooo, how can you look like an *** when starting the car?
No, I haven't tried it, yes I use the alarm, no I've never forgotten it (though I did test it once).

Easy there, turbo. He said 'open the door', not 'starting the car'. And believe me, there WILL be a time when you forget to disarm it, and you WILL gain about 75 bpm when it happens. SKK - you can remove the alarm tumbler from the car and have a key made. I see you're in K.C. Where? I can tell you the exact locksmith I used to do that very thing.

SKK,
The ignition key is not suppossed to work the alarm. There is a smaller key for that, a little bigger than the wheelock key. Mine has a rubber head and is stamped "Zardi".
